Therapeutic Recovery Coaching
Therapeutic Recovery Coaching fuses specific elements of my training to date - Human Givens’ therapy* with Recovery and Co-Active® Coaching, as well as solution-focused methods. Although this differs from counselling, in that its focus is more on the present - and more 'how?' rather than 'why?' - it can offer therapeutic outcomes. This allows me to work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression or trauma and to assist them in moving forward. Although it shares many similarities with life coaching - focusing on you and what you want from life; breaking down longer-term goals into smaller, more manageable steps and motivating you to achieve this... It offers more, much more.
I have worked with many neurodivergent clients. Session times can be adjusted to suit and audio-only sessions (camera-free) are standard.
For those seeking support in recovery, therapeutic recovery coaching can offer an extra cushioning of understanding and support.
*Please note: I am not a Human Givens Therapist and will signpost you if I believe that therapy might be of more benefit to you.

Getting into Recovery
You might not have a history of addiction but find yourself going over and over the same old ground, repeating the same old patterns in your relationships and feel as if you're getting nowhere. Recovery is like a starting line... a line drawn in the sand which defines when you begin new, healthy behaviours and leave old ones behind. Sometimes we cross the line in recovery, as we begin to replace old habits with new behaviours but most of the time, we stay on the healthy side and keep on moving forward... because we learn how to do that. Recovery is an interesting journey of discovery... challenging, but life-changing in every sense - and for the better. We learn so much about ourselves in this process and often have to relearn how we relate to others, so that we can show up in a healthier way.
Already in Recovery
You might have self-medicated with relationships or with alcohol, drugs, sex or work in the past but you're now in recovery and, although you could be attending groups and working with a sponsor, you might feel as if there's still something missing. You'd like to work one-to-one on attaining a specific goal which might seem unrelated to addictive patterns but you'd like to be able to work with a coach who understands how these patterns might get in the way of your achievements.
It might be that old trauma is getting in the way of your recovery and you can work on clearing these blocks to allow new growth to begin. If I don't believe I could assist you, I'd let you know and suggest alternative ways forward for you. If you're experiencing CPTSD, coaching can help with some aspects but it's possible that you would benefit from working more deeply with a Human Givens' Therapist or EMDR Therapist. You can discuss this with me during your initial chat.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE
Living in a stressful, chaotic family home as a child can ripple through your whole life and, as an adult, you might find yourself staying in toxic relationships for longer than you need to, being attracted to unhealthy partners and spending your life trying to please them or fix them. It might be that you have a codependent relationship with a family member. Whoever it is and whatever situation you're in, it's never too late to take control of your own life... starting today.
